Five ways Lakeshore Ledger works with readers and local businesses

Lakeshore Ledger

Our editorial beats, the optional ad-free newsletter and the sponsored features written for local businesses, set out so you can see what each one involves.

Our coverage

Stories, guides and editions we produce for Canadian readers

Lakeshore Ledger is an independent digital magazine. Our writers cover entertainment, independent venues and scenic places across the provinces. Regular articles are free to read. Two paid offerings sit beside them: an ad-free weekly newsletter and sponsored features for local businesses.

  1. Entertainment Features

Stories on Canadian concerts, festivals, stage shows and the artists behind them.

  2. Local Discoveries

Profiles of independent cafés, bookstores, galleries and restaurants worth a visit.

  3. Places and Travel

Guides to scenic spots and regional destinations across the provinces.

  4. Ad-Free Newsletter

An optional paid weekly edition delivered without advertising, with a sample edition to preview.

  5. Sponsored Features

Clearly labelled editorial features written for local businesses, arranged by written quotation.

If you are unsure which offering fits, tell us what you have in mind through the contact page and we will reply in writing with a suggestion.

Ad-Free Newsletter or Sponsored Features: who each one serves

These two paid offerings are for different people. One is a reading subscription for individual readers, the other is an editorial service for businesses. This comparison helps you see which applies to you.

In detail

Sponsored Features, step by step

  1. First conversation

You write to us through the contact page and describe the business, what makes it worth a visit and what you would like readers to learn. We read it and reply in writing.

  2. Written quotation

We send a written quotation setting out the feature, what it includes and what could change the price. Nothing begins until you have read it and confirmed in writing.

  3. Writing and review

One of our writers visits or speaks with you, drafts the feature and sends it for a factual check. You correct details such as names, hours and addresses.

  4. Publication and invoice

The feature appears on the site with its sponsored label. We then send an invoice, which you pay by bank transfer under our payment and refund policy.
